The executive committee may nominate persons who at the time of their initiation are not students at The University of Texas at Tyler as honorary members based on their significant involvement with the Chapter.
Junior Memberships

Candidate Requirements:
- Have declared or intend to declare a degree-seeking part-time or full-time undergraduate (junior or senior) or postgraduate student with a concentration in accounting, finance, or computer information systems, and;
- Have completed, in addition to two years of collegiate courses, at least one upper level course beyond the business core in their respective major, and;
- Have maintained an upper level GPA, in their declared major, of at least 3.0 (to include all upper level courses in their major, whether grade replacement used or not).
- Have attained an overall minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0, or
- Have attained an honors distinction utilized by the institution deemed to be equivalent to the above.
- Pay a one-time candidate fee as determined by the national office of Beta Alpha Psi. This fee is nonrefundable and will be forwarded to the national office of Beta Alpha Psi.
- Pay semester dues as determined by the Chapter executive committee. This fee is nonrefundable and will cover the general operations of the local Beta Alpha Psi Chapter.
- Participate and attend the respective Induction Ceremony pending faculty advisor’s review and approval of academic standing.
- Meet the required number of professional and service hours. Candidates must have at least six professional and six service hours per reporting year. Non Beta Alpha Psi service hours can be counted at the discretion of the Reporting Officer and Executive Committee. If the required hours are not met within twelve (12) months, the candidacy status is void. The candidate may reapply and pay all required fees if they desire.
- Maintain an overall minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0.
- Maintain either:
- A finance minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0. The grade point average for your finance concentration includes only upper level major courses, or
- An information systems cumulative grade point average of 3.0. The grade point average for your information systems concentration includes only upper level major courses.
- Participate in Chapter professional and service activities as organized by the executive committee. Members must achieve at least six professional and six service hours each semester to remain in good standing. Non Beta Alpha Psi service hours can be included at the discretion of the Reporting Officer and Executive Committee.
- Pay semester dues as determined by the executive committee. The fee is nonrefundable and covers the general operations of the local Beta Alpha Psi Chapter.

Eligibility Requirements:
- Have intention to declare a major in Accounting, Finance or Information Systems and are not yet enrolled in upper-level (3000+) business courses.
- Have attained an A or B in either ACCT 2301 or equivalent at UTT or at another regionally accredited institution.
- Have attained a minimum 2.8 cumulative GPA .
- 3 Professional Activity Hours
- 3 Community Service Hours
- Dues for Junior members are to be at a rate not to exceed two-thirds the rate of full membership.
Requirements
Full Members:
All individual members/candidates have professional and service hour requirements. These requirements are designed to encourage involvement of Beta Alpha Psi members and candidates in professional and community service activities. They can be obtained by participating in chapter activities(BAP hours) and by earning hours on individual projects(Non-BAP Hours). Each individual must complete a minimum of 12 hours of Professional and Service Activities per reporting year as follows:
Junior Members:
Chapter Requirements for Junior Members
BAP vs Non BAP Hours:
The difference between BAP and Non-Bap hours all depends on the chapter involvement in each activity. In order for professional or service hours to to be classified as BAP hours, there must be a minimum of 25% of chapter involvement. If there is less than 25% of BAP involvement in a event it can still count as Non-BAP hours, which will require you to fill out the proper service hours form, which is to be turned into the Reporting Secretary at the proper time.
Professional Activities
Professional activities are any activities that fall into any of the following categories/topics
Service Activities
Service is the giving of one’s time, energy and talents to benefit either the campus or local community. Community service involves making a difference to these entities through the actions of caring for others by the chapter and/or its members and includes direct service or indirect service. Direct service means becoming actively involved with a community group or organization (either on or off campus). Indirect service means providing help or resources through a “round-about” approach and includes preparation time for charitable events, raising funds for charity, or assisting with “back office” functions such as accounting or computer systems.
Full Members:

- Joint meetings with professional organizations
- Joint meetings with on-campus organizations
- Local seminars/workshops (but not those involving “paid” tuition)
- Field trips
- Meet-the-Firms Night or Activity (must be a single event where multiple firms are represented and purpose is to provide a significant number of students with information about various firms and industries. This should not be strictly a recruiting event)
- Publications (articles or news notes for newsletter; copy of publication must be submitted to the Executive Office for credit)
- Executive-in-Residence/Professor-for-a-Day programs (time based upon the time a member/candidate attends sessions “taught” by the guest)
- Mock interview activity (must be an event where multiple firms are represented and all member/candidates are eligible to participate. This should not be a recruiting event)
- Activity or meeting with a professional organization
- Social activities with professionals – up to two activities per year with a maximum time of 1 hour (50 minutes) per activity
- Attendance at R.I.S.E. – Global Student Investment Forum
- All chapters will be allowed to conduct one professional meeting as a Webinar in any of the above listed topics. Chapters should get pre-approval for this as they will have to show how they intend to incorporate internal controls to ensure that the people they said participated, actually did. The chapters will be responsible for finding and utilizing the webinar technology
